Attending Pediatric Surgeon at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, Director of The Chicago Institute for Fetal Health, and Professor of Surgery at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. A globally renowned expert in surgical fetal intervention with over 20 years of experience in diagnosing and treating complex fetal conditions including spina bifida, twin-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS), congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH), and more. Educated at the University of Illinois College of Medicine (MD, 1991), he completed residency in general surgery at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics (1991–1996), followed by advanced training and fetal surgery fellowship at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (1996–2002).

Dr. Michael R. Carr is the Clinical Practice Director and Attending Physician in Cardiology at Lurie Children's Hospital. He also serves as the Program Director of the Cardiology Fellowship Program. Dr. Carr is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.

He earned his medical degree from Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine in 1998. Dr. Carr completed his postgraduate training with a Fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology at Texas Children’s Hospital (2003-2006), followed by a Fellowship in Advanced Cardiac Imaging at the same institution in 2006. His residency in pediatrics was completed at the National Naval Medical Center from 1998 to 2001.

Dr. Carr is board-certified in Pediatric Cardiology and General Pediatrics. He is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Cardiology, and the American Society of Echocardiography.

Karim Diab, MD, FACC, FASE, is currently the director of the fetal cardiac research and education program at Lurie Children’s Hospital and is Professor of Pediatrics at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Dr. Diab earned his medical degree from the American University of Beirut and completed his fellowship training at the University of Chicago. He has directed several fetal cardiac programs at several national and international institutions including Rush University in Chicago, Sidra Medicine in Qatar and Inova Children’s Hospital in Virginia. He is a member and an elected fellow of the American College of Cardiology and of the American Society of Echocardiography. Dr. Diab is also the Editor-In-Chief for the journal of Pediatric Cardiology, Springer Nature.
